Wall2Wall Basketball™ 3X3 Rules & Regulations
The Play | The Court | The Fouls | Entry Fees & Prizes | Misc.
Each team must have at least three players on their roster. Coed teams must always have at least one female on the court and two females on the roster. Games may be started and completed with only two players, but not with just one player.
Teams will be seeded according to the information provided for each Individual on the entry form. Event Directors will make every effort to place teams into divisions with similar players. However, in some instances, there may be slight differences in playing ability, age and size.
NO ROSTER CHANGES ARE ALLOWED AFTER YOUR FIRST SCHEDULED GAME! All roster changes or additions must be made on a player replacement form prior to the team’s first scheduled game. It is the discretion of the tournament staff to approve any player changes/additions since the new or additional player(s) can not alter the team’s placement in the tournament which is based on the original roster.
NO DUNKING IS ALLOWED IN PRACTICE. Dunking is permitted only in official games. Anyone caught dunking in non-game situations can and will be disqualified from further participation.
Each player must individually sign the scoresheet waiver before each game.
Substitutions are unlimited but permitted only when the ball is not in play.
To begin each game, a coin toss will determine the right of possession. The team winning the toss has the option to start the game with the ball or defer possession to the opposing team.
The ball will change possession after all made baskets, no “make it take it.”
The ball must be “taken back” on EVERY change of possession. Failure to take it back will result in the loss of possession and the loss of any points resulting from that possession. (“Taking it back,” means BOTH feet behind the three-point line or clearing the ball off of the back wall of the court.) A violation occurs only when a shot is attempted prior to properly taking the ball back. If a shot is attempted prior to taking the ball back and you are fouled, the foul does not count and the ball changes possession.
The ball must be checked by the opposing player before it is put into play. The ball must be passed to a teammate to begin play or bounced off of one of the two side walls of the court. The ball cannot be dribbled into play.
After all fouls or when balls go out-of-bounds, the ball must be taken out above the three-point line.
ALL QUALIFYING GAMES will be to 15 points, win by two points. ALL BRACKET GAMES will be to 21 points, win by two points. A game won by a forfeit will result in a 15-0 or 21-0 victory for the team present on the court.
Games will be scored as two and three points, with a three point shot being scored based on the designated line at the start of each game (Highschool or the NBA regulation lines).
Each team is allowed one-45 second time-outs.
C. THE COURT
The top, sides, and bottom of the backboard and the baseboard are inbounds. The metal support pieces from the top base unit to the backboard are out-of-bounds.
The three walls surrounding the court are considered in play at all times, including a ball played off the wall past the baseline. The traditional baseline is out of bounds.
D. THE FOULS (AND “DEBATES”)
If any player is less than cordial to our referees or event hosts, they will be suspended for the game or the tournament. Wall2Wall Basketball does not recognize non-playing coaches as part of the team. These “coaches” can be asked to leave the event site at any time should they become rude, unruly, or act in a manner that is not in the best interest of the tournament. Players ejected will be banned from competing in further Wall2Wall Basketball tournaments.
In any game where a referee is scheduled to officiate or the Wall2Wall Basketball staff elects to place an official, the referee will make all calls. Otherwise, the players are responsible for making their own calls.
??? Calling a foul and shooting for it ???
The team captain is the sole representative for his/her team. The captain has the right to ask the monitor/referee/court supervisor to explain any rules. If there is a dispute which needs to be resolved, request a court supervisor to come to your court immediately to handle the situation. The court monitor’s, referee’s or court supervisor’s decision is final for the purpose of that game. Once play resumes or once the game is completed after a disagreement, the problem is considered a dead issue.
Jump or held balls go to the defense. (Exception: On all double fouls, the ball shall remain with the offense.)
Flagrant, Technical, or Continuous Misconduct Fouls will result in the dismissal of the offending player. If the referee rules that a foul was Flagrant or Continuous Misconduct, and the player fouled is in the process of shooting and makes the shot, the basket is scored, and he/she shall retain possession. If the player fouled is not shooting or misses a shot attempt, the player shall receive one free-throw and retain possession. If a player receives a technical foul, the opposing team will shoot one free-throw and retain possession. Additionally, the player receiving the technical foul will be removed from the game until both teams score a combined total of four (4) points, at which time he/she can re-enter the game. ANYONE INVOLVED IN PUNCHING OR FIGHTING, FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER, WILL BE EJECTED FROM THE TOURNAMENT. TWO OR MORE TECHNICAL FOULS WILL RESULT IN THE AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE GAME.
E. ENTRY FEES AND TOURNAMENT PRIZES
Each tournament may have an entry fee associated that is required for each player on a team and is due before the start of the tournament’s first qualifying game.
Prizes will be awarded based on the number of teams/players that have entered each tournament and the total available prizes will be determined upon the announcement and registration of each tournament begins.
Teams that win their first bracketed game will receive the equivalent of their entry fees. For example, if a player pays $50 as an entry fee, then the prize awarded will be $50.
For each bracketed game that is won, fees will be paid according to the published tournament prize for each bracket. For example, when an (8) team tournament is played, (2) teams will receive $150, (1) team will receive $300 and the winning team will receive $600.
Prizes will be paid to each player that individually pays the entry fees. In the event a team captain pays for the entire team's entry fees, the team captain will be paid the total prize proportional to their entry fees paid. For example, if a team captain pays the $150 entry fee for their team and proceeds to win the (8) team tournament described above, they will receive the $600 on behalf of their team.
All prizes will be paid via Venmo or Zelle within 5 business days of the completion of each tournament.
If a player receives more than $599 dollars in prizes or other earnings, they will be required to complete a W-9 and will receive a 1099 from Wall2Wall Basketball at the end of each calendar year. Any player who receives a 1099 will be responsible for reporting and filing the appropriate tax related documents and is responsible for any taxes owed.
F. MISCELLANEOUS REGULATIONS
UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTIFIED, ALL PRINTED SCHEDULES ARE OPERATIVE ONLY THROUGH THE FIRST GAME FOR ALL TEAMS. After each game, each team is advised to check the event host for all schedules, times, courts, revisions, and other important information. We reserve the right to reduce the number of games, or shorten games, due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
When a game is being officiated by a referee, all calls are final. Offensive language and excessive arguing with the referees will result in ejection from the tournament.
A player must leave the game when an abrasion has flowing blood. Once the flow of blood has stopped and there is no chance of blood contacting other players, the player with the abrasion may re-enter the game.
ALL PLAYERS MUST HAVE A GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID AVAILABLE TO VERIFY THEIR AGE DURING THE EVENT WEEKEND. FAILURE TO PRODUCE AN ID UPON REQUEST COULD RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.
All height information written on the entry form must be exact. We reserve the right to disqualify any player and/or team for the submission of false or wrong information.
